Cardiac Monitoring
Often, an EKG done in a doctor’s office provides incomplete or insufficient information. If you have a history of cardiovascular disease or are experiencing certain symptoms, your doctor may ask you to wear a cardiac event monitor for a few days in order to gather more specific data.
Today’s cardiac monitoring devices are examples of advanced technology. They’re convenient, portable and roughly the size of a pager or cell phone. Depending on the type of monitor your doctor recommends, they can be worn from 24 hours up to 30 days. This small piece of equipment is capable of recording and transmitting any irregularities in your heart rhythms as you go about your daily activities.
While you are wearing your monitor, it will be sending information about your heart directly to TLC’s state-of-the-art monitoring facility. Our service center is staffed 24/7, 365 days a year by certified professionals who are trained in the reading and recognition of transmissions. We are always open. We are always here to answer any questions you may have – day or night.
At the end of the testing period, a detailed report will be sent directly to your doctor describing the data collected by the monitor. This is valuable information that will help your doctor make informed decisions about your treatment.
THE FOLLOWING SYMPTOMS MAY INDICATE A NEED FOR CARDIAC MONITORING:
* Panic attacks
* Racing heartbeats
* Dizziness or loss of balance
* Shortness of breath
* Palpitations
Your doctor will decide which of the TLC cardiac monitoring devices is most appropriate for you. The TLC technician who does your “hook-up” will explain how to record and send transmissions and will answer whatever questions you may have.
